The Bear Project is a literacy and life outreach program serving the Oglala Lakota youth and families of Pine Ridge Reservation and surrounding communities. Our mission is to empower the youth, families, and community to make positive choices, improving the lives of thousands of Indian people.
Our programs serve as a Tiospaye (family) replacing superficial relationships with a loving, supportive and collaborative environment.
Crisis Management
We provide 24/7 response for suicide intervention and mental health crises.
Emergency Needs
Food, clothing and firewood for those in dire need.
Youth Services
Wellness and mental health support, culture and performing arts, sports and exercise.
Life Skills
Relationship and communication skills, job readiness, personal finance.
